Ownership Change at Astro

Astro Metal Craft is under new ownership and has now entered its 3rd chapter of life. George and I have sold our final ownership interest to our son Tony, putting Astro as second generation family owned business!

The company was founded in 1987 as Astro Engineering and Manufacturing by the Gilbert and Preisen families. In 2005 they were looking to retire and sell, and that is when we bought the ownership company. In the past 15 years the company has:

Grown from a company of 7 to about 35, gained hugely in expertise, equipment, and competent reliable staff in all areas of metal fabrication, along with the many trusted business relationships with customers and suppliers

Moved from the Plymouth location of 10,000 square feet to Hanover in 2013 with a space of 30,000 square feet on nearly 4 acres

Changed our name to Astro Metal Craft in 2019 to better reflect our line of business

Added a 3rd building of 10,000 feet of production space with a much needed large breakroom in 2020

Tony has worked with Astro from his early years in production, then management, and now full owner. His education in Industrial Engineering has been valuable to Astro as he led the company through many changes in growth and efficiencies.

The process of Tony moving to full ownership has been evolving over several years leaving only the sale transaction for last. I (Sue) will stay on in marketing for a while.

Tony resides in nearby St Michael with his wife Emmy and 3 young children, Lucas, Jonas, and Freyja.
