Code Requirements

The Vega picket aluminum railing is designed to meet the IBC codes, 2012 edition. Therefore, this railing system meets structural requirements.  Equally important, it ensures compliance by horizontal concentrated load of 50 lbs. applied to 1 sq. ft. at any point in system. This includes panels, intermediate rails, balusters, or other elements composing infill area. Performance Criteria

Design metal guardrails, including comprehensive engineering analysis, by a qualified professional engineer. Hence, use performance requirements and design criteria indicated. At any point in the system, horizontal concentrated load of 50 lbs. is applied to 1 sq. foot. This is while using panels, intermediate rails, balusters, or other elements composing infill area, to meet requirement.

• Top Rails: rectangular tube; 3 inches wide by 2 inches high, by 0.1875-inch wall thickness.
• Bottom rails: rectangular tube; 3 inches wide by 1-inch-high, by 0.1875-inch wall thickness.
• Pickets: Flat bar; 2 inches wide, by 0.375-inch thick.
• Posts: Flat bar; 3 inches wide, by 0.50-inch thick joined by horizontal flat bar 2 inches wide, by 0.375-inch thick, welded to verticals.
